Skills Awards - Levels

Levels 1 - 4 of the award scheme have been crossed-referenced to the National Curriculum (Key Stages 1 - 4) for the benefit of schools. The standards for each of the levels are set out below.

Level 1 - Under 10's (Key Stages 1 & 2)
Level 2 - Under 12's (Key Stages 2 & 3)

These levels encourage the correct technical development and development of basic ball-handling skills and footwork.

Emphasis is placed on the individual's awareness in a game situation as a player, team member and spectator and encourages good sporting behaviour.

A participant will acquire a knowledge of the basic rules and tactics, the safety aspects when lifting and carrying equipment, and the importance of health and fitness.

Level 3 - Under 14's (Key Stage 3)

This level requires more advanced ball-handling skills, a greater knowledge and understanding of the game and provides an introduction to refereeing at training sessions.

Level 4 - Under 16's (Key Stage 4)

At Level 4, a player will be expected to be proficient in most areas of the game. A participant should attend coaching and refereeing courses and promote Korfball by helping others.

Details for the above can be obtained from the Kent Korfball Association Development Officer Jackie Hubbard.
