Introduction

The Korfball Skills Awards have been devised and are managed by Kent Korfball Association. The Korfball Awards Scheme has been designed to encourage new players (adults and juniors) to develop a good understanding of the basic techniques, tactics, health, fitness, safety and social aspects of the sport.

The Korfball Awards Scheme has the following aims:

1. To encourage new players, increase their enjoyment of Korfball, recognise their progress and give them a sense of achievement.

2. To enable the Awards to be used as guidelines for newly qualified coaches.

3. To help clubs and schools to evaluate the progress of new players.

National Curriculum

Korfball encourages equal opportunties for the physical, mental, social and cultural well-being of its participants.

The scheme allows for differentiation in abilities and maturities so that juniors and adults can participate in the awards scheme. Individual players are able to work through the levels at their own pace.

Levels 1 - 4 of the award scheme have been cross-referenced to the National Curriculum (Key Stages 1 - 4) for the benefit of schools.
