History
The Bearsted Korfball Club & Academy was established in June 1998 by Kevin Long, originally as the Roseacre Korfball Club. Having spent two days at the Roseacre School, he succeeded in recruiting 10 players, 5 boys and 5 girls, and a new club was born.

The club changed its name in 2000 to reflect the fact that players were now being introduced from the Madginford School. The clubs nickname, the RAMS, is taken from the initials of the Roseacre and Madginford Schools.

In the first year we fielded one U10 team and were runners-up in all competitions entered. Despite this moderate success, 4 players left and in year two we effectively had to start again. This was to prove to be the basis of the success the club was to experience over the next seven years.

In 2001 we won our first trophy and in 2003 our U13's were National Champions. This feat they repeated as U15's in 2005. From the shadows of this team has emerged the next generation who repeated their predecessors success becoming National Champions at U13's in 2006 and U16s in 2007.

In 2002 we introduced the parents to the game with immediate success, the first team winning the Senior Plate in their first season.

In total the club has won 40 trophies, 37 of these between 2002 and 2009.

In the 2007/08 we succeeded in our aim to take our Kent success into the National League. A squad of 18 players, mainly U17's, trained all season to develop a new playing style to prepare themselves for the challenge.

In May 2007 we played in a play-off match against Norwich City in Cambridge. In a very tense game we trailed for most of the time, leading only for a 5 minute period shortly after half-time. In the last 3 minutes we were 2 goals down when Emma Hind stepped up to take and score 2 vital penalties, the second with only seconds left on the clock.

This took the game into golden goal, a very tense 10 minutes where neither side gave away any fouls that would have given the opposition a great opportunity to score. With 30 seconds to go Emma again made the decisive play and scored a running in shot that brought the game to a trilling conclusion for us - we had realised our dream.

Great credit should go to the Norwich City team who played an excellent game and I hope that they will find a way to get themselves back into the National League in the near future.

Season 2008/09 has proved very successful, with the National League Squad attaining 6th place, with a very young squad and a first class achievement. Barsted Under 16s were winners of the National Championships for U16s and National Youth Day. Under 13s were also National Youth Day winners along with Under 19s.

Rams secured the Kent Plate.
